Just heard a good friend passed away today. Long battle with cancer. I’m glad he’s no longer in pain, and I hope his family finds some peace. He was a very loving man. Invited me to spend a weekend with them without having known me other than online. That generosity allowed me to see my best friend who I hadn’t seen in years. I will miss you, Kent.
Think I found my new Friday routine
Left work a little early. Hit the pool for 450 yards in 18 minutes - yeah, I’m slow, I know, I just aim to not drown. After swimming, I took my first hot yoga class. I feel so much better. Found out the same girl is doing a 2 hour “hip opener” workshop tomorrow. She said “it’s perfect for anybody who runs or bikes” and well…that’s me! Maybe...
You know, it sucks getting volunteered to work extra to cover a call in, and then have the bosses leave early. Really? You came in late and now you leave early?
How did I get signed up to follow people mag? I don’t want to follow them.
Just realized my underwear are on inside out. Apparently I wasn’t completely awake when I got dressed this morning.
Taking my daddy out a week from today
Just found out his favorite baseball team is playing the Astros on April 3rd and 4th. So, I got him tickets for dugout level, 3rd baseline, 25th row behind the White Sox. Just maintaining my place as “the good daughter.”
I love it when educated people use the totally...
And have no idea. Sitting in lecture, we have a guest lecturer who is working on her PhD. Nice lady. Sweet. According to her, though, she’s an “inspiring teacher.” Um, no, dear. You may be an *A*spiring teacher, but not inspiring.
Got last week's midterm back
A 99, baby!! I can live with that.
My mom doesn’t weigh much more than me, but she carries it differently. She’s also Type II diabetic and pretty inactive. Yesterday, I offered to pay for 6 months of Weight Watchers for her. Told her he was welcome to go with me. I showed her all the information I’ve gotten from them so far. She finally said she wanted to do it. Her health scares me. I’m only 34,...
Quick recap of yesterday's ride
Then off to do homework. Got to the site about 10 minutes or so before the event started. Changed shoes, got the bike off the rack, clipped in, rode for a minute or two around the parking lot, then found my way to the start. I opted for the short route, because the options were 11 miles, 50 miles, and 78ish miles. My bike saddle muscles aren’t ready for 50 miles yet so 11 it was. ...
Stats later. Just wanted to share that I didn’t die.
2nd swim of the week. 450 yards in 16 minutes this time. Will eat then bike. Just realized I have a minimum of 11 miles to ride tomorrow and am not quite a master at the clipping and unclipping.
Swim. And maybe, since I’ll be getting there earlier today it won’t be so crowded. Tomorrow is a charity bike ride, and bowling with some old coworkers. Sunday is a run, weight watchers, and homework.
First time in months. Now, sooooo hungry!
Robin Does Running: What would you attempt to do... →
robindoesrunning: this is the thought that is pushing me forward. Not only with the prospect of a new exciting a career path but in all areas of life including fitness. I see many posts throughout the day that may end in saying FAIL because of something that didn’t turn out at the end of the day, week or month. I love this. And this woman.
My priorities are not those of a woman apparently
Found out we didn’t have a drug they needed for a bleeding patient in OR. Called around, found some, left to get it. Realized while running into the hospital that I grabbed my keys, my phone, and my sunglasses. Did not grab my purse with my drivers license or insurance or anything. Did get in a good 5 minutes of sprinting around employees at my hospital and patients and visitors...
I know I'm not hungry
But my mouth wants icecream. I think it’s being in the car. Out of class early, stuck in traffic. Not good.
I love you.
Fly Paper for Freaks - that's me
I always seem to end up with the freaks in the gym. Always. There are 3 treadmills in the fitness center. 2 guys were on 2 of them when I came in. Ok, no biggie. I jumped on the 3rd. Yeah, apparently the 3rd doesn’t get over a walking speed. So, I moved to the eliptical. While I’m trudging away on the eliptical, idiot number 2 decided to sing. And not just sing. We’re...
Should the thought of a big goal make your stomach...
Full Ironman October(ish) 2017. Why 2017? I’ll be 40 that month and year. That gives me 5.5 years.
First one done
I don’t know if that’s good or bad. But, it is what it is. I couldn’t write anymore without beginning to repeat myself. Now, home early to…study. Great.
I know I’m only down 4.8 pounds since starting Weight Watchers, but I already feel like my jeans are fitting differently. All in my head or not, I’m not gonna argue.
Dear Downtown Houston, I did not miss you or your traffic last week. Me.
Spring break is over. Tonight is the midterm in my Issues in Corrections class. Oh. Joy.
Mini Brick day
I was supposed to do a 25 minute ride yesterday and a 12 minute run today. But after toodeling around the parking lot with the 4 year old yesterday, I couldn’t insist on going back out to ride by myself. So, I’m going to do today’s run, then come in, change shorts and shoes for the ride. I’m not sure what the temp is outside, but it’s warm and humid. Better get...
Weigh in this morning
Will be getting myself up and dressed to head to Weight Watchers in a few. Not sure how this weigh in will go. Had some not so great food moments this week, especially this weekend while the kids were here. Cake and icecream last night.
Just realized - not butts this time
8 full weeks until TriGirl. REALLY need to get my rear in gear with the training! Ok, I lied. There’s a butt there.
The trouble with jogging is that by the time you realize you’re not in...– Franklin Jones
Just discovered I have a quarter sized spot of road rash and a big ass bruise on my rear from yesterday. Just in case y’all were curious.
YOU are awesome and won’t fall over! I am clumsy and fall over.
I suppose they’ll loosen up some as they get broken in? This was my first time falling with the clips - last time was just the toe cages. I was trying to get moving this time, actually. Couldn’t get the 2nd foot clipped in and couldn’t get the clipped foot unclipped and couldn’t stop the bike from going to the clipped side. Oh well. I’ll get better. Or...
To those who have mastered clipping and unclipping
How many times must you fall and scrape the same spot on the same knee before you get it?
Bike or nap? Bike or nap? Bike? Or nap? Sigh.
Guess who had to send a poopy email this morning?
And I mean it. Included were 2 pics of bird poop that came in a tote I received this morning. On top of the poop - drugs. THAT’S sanitary.
Clip-less pedals on. Cleats on shoes. Seat raised. Handlebars lowered. Lots of practice clipping in and out on the trainer. Got home, unracked the bike, put on the shoes, pushed the thoughts of Jonathan’s wife breaking her leg on the clips, and rode. No falling over. No issues. Stayed inside the apartment parking lot. Haven’t been brave enough to wander out onto the road yet. ...
No school tonight. Bike fitting at 4:30. 3 servings of fruit an veggies in already. Good day so far.
