The problem with increasing your fluid intake
Is it also increases your fluid output.
So hungry now
I guess next time I get up early to run (tomorrow?) I’ll have to get up the first time my alarm goes off. By the time I got back inside, it was 6:30 and I had to shower. Then, headed straight to work. No breakfast for me yet. Here in a couple of minutes, though.
Must get up
It’s 5:30am. It’s ungodly early. But I woke up this early to run, figuring 76F was way better to run in than 97+. I forgot it would be 8000% humidity. Oh well. I’m awake. Might as well get out of bed and run.
On KILLING your first tri!!
THE ANGRY THERAPIST: Instead of focusing on... →
theangrytherapist: So many of us are miserable because we are lonely. We believe finding the “one” will solve everything. But seeking a “soulmate” puts us in a powerless position. It’s okay to want. But sometimes, we want so bad, we are willing to compromise ourselves which turns off the faucet to our truth. We…
Ever work with one of those people who, though you know they mean well, just make you want to beat them to within an inch of their lives? No? Just me? Alrighty then.
Ren is trying to kill me
I swear she is. Either the 47 or 60 mile route for Tour de Cure in September. Sure, it’ll be good practice for my 2 day 170some-odd mile ride in October. But 44 kicked my ass yesterday.
Here’s the map for the 44 mile route. And the data. I think I met the Garmin Gremlin: It shouldn’t have taken 3 hours if my max speed was 2,156.3mph.
Just discovered there's also a bruise on my ass
I’ll spare y’all the pic of that one.
It's not even 5am yet
Nothing should cause a body to be up this early on a Sunday.
swimbikeren: Forty-four miles with @Dawn at Katy Flatland (on the bike). Our Lady of Cannondale, Pray for us. Come hell or high, I’m going to the beach on Monday. Even if my hiney is so sore I want to die. So that’s good, right? Off to bed so I can not dream about falling off my bike in front of cute cycling boys. We got this. Never mind that I haven’t ridden more than 20 miles...
Has anybody taken a language course online before? I’m thinking of getting a 2nd grad degree after I finish this one (apparently I’ve lost my mind) but will be required to have a language. Somehow I don’t think they’ll accept my 4 semesters of Russian from my undergrad degree in the late 90’s. I can’t really handle a 3rd face-to-face class this fall, but might be able to...
erinen31: OK, people. In order for Team SASS to be an official team for the Color Run, I need at least one more person on the team (I’m looking at you, Dawn & Ren). Click here to register & be sure to select “team registration” & then say you want to join “Team SASS (Nies)”. C’mon! It will be a BLAST! I promise. :) All registered!. Even forwarded to my sister. She won’t do...
Awww, yeah! Now if I can just keep those types of run times when the runs get longer, I’ll be happy. :)

WEEK one (Three Days): 4 x 100 yards (or meters)…rest for 12 breaths between 100s 4 x 50 yards…rest for 8 breaths between 50s 4 x 25 yards…rest for 4 breaths between 25s total: 700 yards Today’s swim was done in 23:18. That’s almost 3 minutes faster than I did it on Wednesday with the same yardage. Not lighting fast, but when you figure the breaths are included...
0 to 1650 Week 1 Day 1
So, I decided to give this a shot. I don’t know how else to increase swim endurance, so… Here’s the workout: WEEK one (Three Days): 4 x 100 yards (or meters)…rest for 12 breaths between 100s 4 x 50 yards…rest for 8 breaths between 50s 4 x 25 yards…rest for 4 breaths between 25s total: 700 yards I did a 5 minute warm up of random stuff - some kicking,...
Even smart people have stupid moments
Sitting at work, thinking I’d like to get a swim in, wondered idly out loud, “I wonder if it’s still raining?” My pharmacist says “Outside?” Here’s your sign.
I don’t want to go to work.
5 minute warm up walk, 5 minute cool down walk. If I could just walk a little faster…

Tour de Cure: Houston, TX →
@Ren - is this the event you were talking about yesterday, maybe? It’s 2 months after Katy…I’m thinking full century.
Yeah, I did. December 21 & December 22, 2012. There’s some special thing for those who complete both. And they’re not on concrete, so it should be ok. If I get my training on the right track right now. Plus, I thought that would make an excellent display - an End of the World medal and a Day After the End of the World medal?
I goofed. I didn’t know you couldn’t hear the alerts to run and/or walk if the phone was on vibrate. So, the warm up is on it’s own workout. And the actual workout and cool down: After the first run/walk cycle I got smart and decided I wanted to see what my runs looked like, so I started hitting the lap button as I heard the alert: So, not perfect, but better than...
Jonathan stole my post.
I am going to restart Couch to 5K. It works. I know it works. I just need to be more consistent with my actual running. I signed up for back to back half marathons in December - time to get training.
Do you ever just get tired of the same routine every day? Get up, go to work, do the same things I did yesterday, answer the same questions for the same people. Come home, find my parents in the same places they were yesterday and the day before. Answer the same questions as always - how are you? How was work? Is X ok for supper? Give the same answers as always because nobody really listens...
I couldn’t find the dragonfly pic, but here’s a Cuban Crocodile…they’re the same, right?
